Dear Diary: July Favourites

I never knew there was so much work involved when going from brunette to blonde. I was totally ignorant of toners and purple shampoos. Boots did a
3 for 2 so that's why I went for these three. I'd heard of the John Freida range but wasn't famour myself with the products. These have been amazing. I'm not exactly sure how they do it but they make a huge difference to my hair colour, getting rid of the yellow and brassy tones which plague my hair. I'll do a full review at some stage!

I love making things. Loom bands are so addictive and easy to do.
I find it really therapeutic. Yes the bands cut off the circulation in my fingers after a while but it's so worth it!

I was never one for cakes or pie or anything too sweet really but I saw a recipe for a banana and coconut cream pie at the weekend and had to have a go.
In the end I used dairy free ice cream as my coconut cream was a bit of a failure. This is quite a sweet one even though I only used half of the sugar recommended!
I won't be having this very often as it is quite rich but boy did it taste good!
There wasn't any baking involved so that was a bonus!

Squats and regular kettlebells are my favourite discovery of 2014. I've a long way to go yet. I really need to work on my arm and core strength. I feel like such a weakling at times! I find Lidl great for workout gear although their sizing is a bit off at times but I can't fault the quality of their products.

Train Hard. Feel Sore. See Results. And Repeat.

First rule of kettle bells class - Go to your kettle bells class.

I mentioned in my last post and on Twitter a couple of times that I've taken up kettle bells at work. I usually prefer to exercise by myself but as I've moved to a new county I think it's important to surround myself with as many  positive and awesome people as possible.
Sometimes I feel a little nervous just before class starts as I'm the newbie and to be honest, my coordination sucks but I think I'm getting the hang of it. There is a fantastic vibe in the class and no reason to be nervous or self conscious.

Father of the Bride 3!

I was so excited to read that a Father of the Bride 3 is on the cards. I absolutely love the previous two movies so fingers crossed that the original cast will all be making an appearance.
Kimberly Williams Paisley (Annie) has pretty much stuck to tv work since her acclaimed performances in father of the bride 1/2. Her  struggle with her mothers dementia was documented in a book recently by Kimberly so there is obviously a lot going on with her private life.
Rumour has it that the movie will focus on George's only son Matty. Apparently Matty is marrying a Navy Seals officer. Gay marraige and an old fashioned dad don't always go well together. Here's hoping it all works out as I don't want to hate George!
I'd love to see Kieran Culkin back as Matty. Kieran is a solid actor and has been pretty much in the movie and tv business all his life.
George Newbern aka Bryan has spent the last decade or so doing tv shows such as Friends, Greys Anatomy and CSI.
My main man Martin Short aka Franck has been on Broadway and does a lot of voice work in movies.
I can't wait to see where the characters are now.

200 words or less. Part 1 : Are you hydrated? Skincare & Health

I am pretty sure I spent most of my life dehydrated and I  didn't even know it. There are still times where I'm dehydrated but at least now I'm aware of it and do something about it.
To put it bluntly; if you pee is the same colour as a character in The Simpsons as opposed to a clear Caspar the Friendly Ghost  colour then you are dehydrated

Other  signs that you are dehydrated include:
Dry mouth especially in the morning.
Bad breath.
Dry skin/lips
Constipation/ not pooping daily
No tears when you cry

A lot of people don't pee enough and/or don't poop daily. If you aren't peeing at least 7 times a day and not pooping the you are doing somethinng wrong. It's easy to fix though I know from experience.

Whilst I don't know much about the science behind hydration, I can promise you from  personal experience  that you will become hydrated faster from eating lots of fruit and veg than you will from chugging down actual glasses of water. If you can get your hands on melons or cucumbers you will be on the pigs back.

Sleek Brow Kit - Dark - Before & After

Eyebrow kits saved my face. I didn't have much hope for my eyebrows after years of over plucking but then one day I discovered the Benefit Brow Zing kit and my brows were transformed. I finally grew them out and boy they came back with a bang. I don't use much on them anymore but there are still a few gaps here and there that look much better when filled in.

MakeUp Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3 - Swatches - Dupe for Naked 3 ?

£4 v €44
Naked 3 has been around for a while now.  I'm a fan of Urban Decay and I  love the look of the palette but I didn't want to splash  €44 on another palette unless it would be one I'd use weekly. About two weeks ago I  did a quick search on twitter for a Naked 3 dupe; my screen was flooded with pictures of the Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3 (bit of a mouthful!).
I had briefly  read about Makeup Revolution  but I didn't know much about the brand to be honest.  The reviews for this palette were hard to ignore so I ordered it from Superdrug via Parcel Motel. There probably is an easier way to get it in Ireland but it worked out well for me.

Banana Bread/Cake : Egg and Dairy Free #Vegan #LowFat

'Morning! I've been baking this for a few weeks now and thought it was about time I shared this with you all! It's proven very popular in my house. I decided to use my new Aldi Valentines cake tin for the first time last night; it worked perfectly, the mixture didn't stick at all but it's not very heart shaped!
I'm not an experienced baker at all so feel free to change the measurements/temperature/baking time etc!
I love this cake so much; super super low fat and just so yummy.

Chocolate Fudge Cake. Delicious and Vegan.

My moms birthday was coming up and since its pretty much impossible to buy a vegan chocolate cake I decided to make one so that all the family could enjoy some yummy birthday cake.
I found this recipe on a great blog called Southern In Law . I tweaked the measurements and ingredients  little bit as I  essentially wanted two cakes so I could put some icing in the middle and I made my own applesauce.
The cake was soon demolished so I think it's safe to say having a  vegan cake doesn't mean you compensate on the the taste.  Everyone commented on how light and fluffy it was.
So here is how I made a truly scrumptious vegan cake.

Chatting to Ryan Tubridy and Andrew Scott aka Moriarty from Sherlock on the Late Late Show

When a new year begins, I always say to myself  ' I wonder what I'll get up to this year,' Little did I know that I would only be in the first month of the year and already have appeared on the Late Late show and chat to Ryan Tubridy and Andrew Scott aka Moriarty in the BBC's critically acclaimed Sherlock Holmes
Here is how it all began.

Dummies Guide to Being a Blogger : Part Two

When you flip through a book or  magazine; you'll probably  take it for granted that the content is laid out in a reader friendly fashion. Accessible and in order. The same should be provided to your blog readers when they come to have a look around.  There is nothing more off putting than clicking on a blog and having content flying at you from every corner of your computer screen and you've no idea where to begin.
The content may be fantastic but if it's a pain to read or search for something, it's much easier to look elsewhere.
Here are some tips to keep your blog reader friendly.
